Which cars get a grade today
Cellgrade only puts a letter on a battery when it has confirmed how that car's data decodes, checked against readings from a real car. That list is short and honest, and it grows as owners send scans.
Graded today
Audi 48-volt mild hybrids on the MLB-evo platform that use the same battery module as the 2020 Audi RS6 (C8) the app was verified on. Both the 48-volt mild-hybrid battery and the 12-volt battery are graded.
Audi fits that module to its V6 and V8 48-volt mild hybrids on MLB-evo — the A6, A7, A8, Q7 and Q8 families and their S and RS versions, 2018 on. Cellgrade has confirmed its readings on the RS6 only; when you connect, it checks the car's battery module and tells you whether your car can be graded. Four-cylinder Audis badged "MHEV" have no 48-volt battery module and are not graded.
Every other car
Cellgrade can still connect, identify the car, show the 12-volt battery's voltage (a reading, not a grade) and read the fault codes its modules report. Where it only has an unconfirmed map for a battery, it shows the readings and says plainly that they are not graded.
Not graded yet — help add your car
No electric car is graded today. These are the cars the app is asking owners for scans of, under Add my car:
- Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq Electric and Kona Electric
- Kia EV6 and Niro EV
- MG4 Electric and MG ZS EV
- Nissan Leaf
You see every field before a scan is sent, and the car's identification number is shortened by default. Once a model's data is confirmed against a real car, it becomes graded for everyone.
